Frieze Carpet Cleaning Tips

There are many different types of carpets and different ways to care for each one. If you have frieze carpet, then we have suggestions on how you can keep in clean until your next visit from our cleaning professionals.

Frieze style carpet

has slightly twisted fibers; the overall look is very informal and almost bouncy. It is higher than regular pile type carpet but shorter than shag. People who love the feel of a soft floor often opt for frieze style carpeting in their home. It is also a great choice if you don't like the look of footprints or matting. This style hides dirt well, this is good for surprise visits, but a bit more difficult to maintain.

There are no loops in the carpet so the dirt that fall into the pile won't be trapped. Vacuuming your frieze carpet every few days is the best way to assure that is stays in pristine condition. When you vacuum, make sure that you go over the area a minimum of five times. This type of carpet is deeper than average, and while it doesn't hold onto dirt, it takes a little more time to bring it up from the base of the carpeting.

Use of vacuums with a beater bar work best on frieze carpets, its rotating action agitates the fibers and helps bring loose debris and dirt up towards the vacuum. Place your vacuum on the tallest setting to avoid the fibers being damaged through over beating or the rotating parts.

After cleaning your carpet, use a carpet rake to re-fluff your pile and keep it plush. This helps loosen dirt when used prior to vacuuming and prevents unsightly matting after cleaning. Frieze carpet is very low maintenance and easy to clean, but you should have it professionally shampooed and dried at least once per year. Avoid do it yourself machines since this type of carpet absorbs more water than average, improper drying can result in mold as well as undesirable odors.

If you want to refresh the smell of your carpet, instead of using commercial powders that trap dirt, use a small amount of baking soda. Sprinkle the baking soda over the carpet and let sit for ten to fifteen minutes, and then vacuum as normal.

Vvacuuming often helps keep the carpet clean, but it also needs a more thorough. Getting a professional carpet cleaning on a regular basis is not a bad idea. Once to twice a year is recommended unless you have that emergency of course and especially if you have kids and pets.
